Meet Meliss

Hello friend

Welcome to Meliss Meets World! I’m a part time traveler from New Engalnd and Boston who is now romanticizing her life in London. Living abroad has allowed me to travel the world with the love of my life and create this guide to world travel. I hope to inspire just a tad bit of wanderlust along the way or even help plan your next trip!

“Meliss Meets World – I hope this online diary can help plan your next trip, or inspire just a tad bit of wanderlust!⁣”

As part time travelers the initial idea behind this online diary was to have a way to document our travels around not only New England and Boston but the world. It’s hard to remember day by day memories, but looking back remembering and documenting each memory can help tell and define the story. These stories can then help you plan your next trip! I only share about destinations I’ve actually traveled to.

Cape Cod is one of the best places on the Cape to see the beautiful blue, purple, and even pink flowers hydrangeas. This quaint coastal house with blue shutters on Commercial Street has the most lovely display of them.
This is one of the most beautiful houses in Sconset, it is covered in roses when they bloom at the end of June. This shows how lovely the village or town of Sconset is and why you should absolutely visit it when visiting Nantucket.

Taking the bump to one of the make beautiful place Taking the bump to one of the make beautiful places in Paris…

If you were following my stories you know my hubby and I spent a long weekend in Paris in September. It was the last trip my doctor advise I take, and it was actually a birthday present to my hubby.

My husband loves Paris, and for his birthday this year I surprised him with this weekend and planned the entire trip. To be honest, I didn’t love Paris the first time I visited. After I’ve been quite a few times now, I fall more and more in love with it.

Paris isn’t a city you rush through, and I know that now. It showcases the best of itself when you take it slow, and just enjoy the beautiful moments it has to offer.

That’s exactly what my husband and I did while we were there, including spending quite a bit of time in the Tuileries Garden which was just stunning that time of year. Slow travel is definitely on the rise, and it’s easy to see why.

What a special weekend this was, the last time I will be able to get out of London. I will miss traveling these next few months, but I can’t wait for the adventure we’ll be embarking on next!

If you need help planning a trip to Paris or France I’m your girl. My husband and I have become a bit obsessed with France, spending our last few summers in Provence, skiing in the Alps, enjoying the coast in the summer, and of course many weekend trips to Paris.

Feel free to message me as I work with one of the best agencies @fourhundredadvisornetwork that can connect you to the most incredible stays and experiences, and VIP your bookings, usually at no additional cost to you!

A long Weekend in Porto: Everything you Need to Kn A long Weekend in Porto: Everything you Need to Know!

✅SAVE for later!

Portugal is one of the most underrated countries in Europe, contact me if you’re interested in planning your next trip!

🇵🇹Day 1: Get yourself acclimated to Porto and enjoy the Riverfront

🏙️One of the best things about Porto is that it’s relatively small. Porto is extremely walkable, and for those long distances from the airport or steep hills, it is extremely easy to call an Uber or Bolt.

🚌There is public transport in the city, but if you’re staying in the main area of Porto you won’t need to use it.

🥪Start with brunch around Jardim Marques de Oliveira, a lovely square that has plenty of restaurants. We enjoyed sandwiches at Casa Guedes, which has quite the extensive menu but are known for their sandwiches. I tried a mushroom, egg, and garlic aoli sandwich and it was absolutely delicious!

🟦See in the incredible blue tiles of Porto- start at Church of Saint Ildefonso to marvel at the blue tiles and explore the market stalls around the small square. Continue to walk down R. de Stanta Catarina, and make sure to have a coffee at the Majestic Cafe.

📚The rumour is that this cafe is where J.K. Rowling wrote and finished the first book in the Harry Potter series. Continue walking until you reach the Chapel of Souls. In my opinion, these tiles were in the best condition out of any we saw in Porto!

⚓️Walk along the picturesque Riverfront. This riverfront really comes alive in the evenings, and is has tons of restaurants and bars along it. You can book a boat ride up and down the river, and I would suggest you do.

🚤We booked this Get Your Guide boat tour a few hours before, and it only cost €15 per person!

⛪️Continue towards the Church of Saint Francis. This church is beautiful, and very low cost to enter. There’s an old train line that runs right along the front of the facade.

🌅See the sunset at Miradouro da Vitoria

🍽️Have dinner at the Door restaurant, but will require a booking since it’s small. You can eat outside, their food and sangria are delicious and it’s so well priced.

Paris photo dump… One of the best things about Paris photo dump…

One of the best things about living in London is the fact that I can be in Paris in a little over two hours.

France is actually one of my husband and I’s favorite countries. We’ll never stop visiting, and if you haven’t been you should change that!

💌Send me a message if you need help planning your next trip, as I work as a travel advisor here in London!
