Meliss Meets World

summer

This beautiful gray shingled house adorned with a blue door and hydrangea flower pots is one of the many idyllic houses you'll find in the storybook village of Sconset on Nantucket. If I had to choose architecture on Nantucket vs Martha's Vineyard I would choose Nantucket. Much of the island is designated as a historical landmark!

What Island is Better?? Nantucket vs Martha’s Vineyard

This is one of the most beautiful houses in Sconset, it is covered in roses when they bloom at the end of June. This shows how lovely the village or town of Sconset is and why you should absolutely visit it when visiting Nantucket.

Is a Day Trip to Nantucket worth it: A LOCAL’s Recommendations!

The Cape is known for its stunning flower, hydrangea, and even has a festival every year to celebrate them. You can find them specifically in Chatham on the Lower Cape and in Provincetown on the Outer Cape.

Here’s what I wish I knew before I flew with Oli t Here’s what I wish I knew before I flew with Oli the first time- and did it solo when he was 10/11 weeks!

I did a TON of research before I flew from London to Chicago with him solo the first time- mostly to help my anxiety. I wanted to come home as soon as he was born, but also wanted him to have some vaccinations before we flew.

He’s now at 9 months taken over 10 flights, and quite a few of them I’ve done solo.

If you want to talk through flying with your little one, or want to escape with them but don’t know where- I work as a travel advisor and can help you every step of the way!

Any tips or tricks I left out? Leave them in the comments below!⬇️

⛱️Best Beaches for Families: *Really most beaches ⛱️Best Beaches for Families: *Really most beaches that are bayside will have more calm, and warmer waters
-Mayflower Beach: soft sand and tidal pools
-Sandy Neck: offers a large parking lot and food trucks
-Corporarion Beach: in a crescent shape that basically becomes a giant pool when the tide is low
-Nauset and Race Point Beach: famous for seal spotting, but both are ocean side with cooler and deeper water, and occasionally large waves

🦞Best Cape Cod Restaurants for Families:
-The Canteen: located in picturesque Ptown, this spot is casual, mostly outdoor seating. My favorite part about this restaurant is you can dip your toes in the sand while eating a delicious lobster roll!
-Mac’s on the Pier: this Wellfleet spot is right on a quiet beach, a perfect place to watch the sunset
-Chatham Bars Farm: they have the cutest farm store, child friendly festivals, and farm dinners throughout the season
**The Beach House Grill at Chatham Bars Inn: this is another spot that offers dining in the sand, and plenty of kids to run around and even roast marshmallows if you’re a guest! (Message me if you want to book with perks you can’t get booking yourself!)

🚲Best Things to Do:
-Wellfeet Drive-in Cinema: a fave of my husband and I as adults, they will always play a family friendly movie first and then a more adult focused movie for the price of one!
-Heritage Museum and Gardens: if your kids loves cars, there’s a large car collection here, and large garden spaces for your kids to run around
-Cape Cod Rail Trail: the Cape is full of these biking trails, and they’re all mostly flat and very easy for littles

My love letter to the prettiest flower there is… My love letter to the prettiest flower there is…

This weekend was tough, I always get a little emo towards the end of summer. It doesn’t help that this weekend was also the first one I’ve had a chance to slow down, and really think about my path forward.

I’ve cherished these almost 9 months I’ve gotten to spend and be at home with Oli. I waited so long to finally be a Mom, but I’m going to have to give that up soon. The business is ramping up, and Mama has to get back to work! He’ll be starting daycare in just a few weeks, and I feel like I have to get back to reality.

That realization sunk in hard this weekend, and really knocked me down. It’s hard to feel that I’m almost losing my identity a bit with giving my responsibility up to someone else, and also trying to navigate finding myself again and who that person is now.

How does one do this? I’ll take all the help I can get!!

Thanks for listening 🩵

Here’s to another beautiful birthday on Nantucket… Here’s to another beautiful birthday on Nantucket…

If only I could have known this time last year that everything would be ok…we lost our angel twin last July. Only a few weeks after my birthday would I have the MRI to determine the procedure that attempted to save our angel twin didn’t have a negative effect on Oli.

I cried tears of joy after waiting over a long weekend for the MRI results, when they told me my scan was normal, and that Oli should continue to develop as any normal pregnancy would.

He is the greatest birthday gift I could have ever received, just like those belated MRI scan results were.

So here’s to hope, and always believing that light will eventually shine your way🩵.
